Wildrose leader says leadership review no longer in the cards

Just a week after asking for a review of her leadership Wildrose leader Danielle Smith says that it is no longer in the cards.

CALGARY — Just a week after asking for a review of her leadership Wildrose leader Danielle Smith says that it is no longer in the cards.

Smith had asked her executive for a leadership review at her party’s annual meeting in Red Deer, Alta., later this month after Wildrose failed to win in four byelections.

Now she says after conferring with the party executive and after a unanimous show of support from her caucus, who asked that the request be withdrawn, the leadership review will not happen.

Smith says with the departure of Joe Anglin from Wildrose to sit as an independent, any discord within caucus is now gone.

She says there was some concern about confidentiality of matters discussed within caucus being made public.

The party’s president says there was also a problem with adding a leadership review to the convention agenda without giving a full 60 days notice.
