A Sunchild O’Chiese teenager faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of a young man from the same area.

Sherilyn Kyrene Beaverbones, 18, of the O’Chiese First Nation is accused of killing Kieron Dale Beaverbones, 20.

The Calgary Medical Examiner completed an autopsy Tuesday morning and concluded Kieron Dale Beaverbones’ death was deemed a homicide as a result of a stab wound to the upper chest.

Sherilyn Kyrene Beaverbones has also been charged with one count of assault with a weapon in relation to the early Monday morning incident. Police said although the two share the same last name, they are not closely related.

At 1:15 a.m. Rocky Mountain House RCMP members were called to a disturbance at an O’Chiese First Nation residence. They found two people with injuries. One was treated at Rocky Mountain House Hospital, the other died on scene.

Sherilyn Kyrene Beaverbones will make her first court appearance Wednesday in Rocky Mountain House provincial court.
