A 27-year-old woman was charged with speeding and driving carelessly after RCMP caught her driving three times over the 60 km/h speed limit at High Prairie.

RCMP said they were on patrol along Highway 2 in the Big Lakes County area last Friday when they pulled over a woman clocked at 180 km/h on a stretch of road coming into High Prairie.

The driver, who had a graduated driver’s licence, was issued a speeding ticket that requires a mandatory court appearance, and was charged with careless driving.

The woman also registered a “caution” on a breathalyzer, which meant her vehicle was seized and her licence suspended for seven days.

High Prairie RCMP remind motorists with graduated driver’s licences that there is zero tolerance for the presence of any alcohol or drug in their body while operating a motor vehicle.
