A woman died in a single-vehicle rollover on Hwy 2 near Bowden this morning.

Innisfail RCMP Const. Mark MacDougald said the woman was driving north when her SUV left the road and rolled in the median in front of the Bowden Refinery at about 7 a.m.

“We’ve had several collisions this morning on the highway mostly due road conditions,” said MacDougald on Friday.

“That section of highway was very slippery, very icy.”

The driver died on scene and her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The road has reopened to traffic and the investigation continues.

MacDougald said there were about four other collisions on the highway in area. No one was injured, but they caused significant vehicle damage.

He warned drivers to be careful on the roads.

“It’s going to be winter driving here over the next couple days. Just adjust your speed according to the road conditions and the weather conditions.”
