The Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter will stand together in light of violence against women Friday.

It’s been 30 years since the mass shooting at Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal that saw the promising lives of 14 young women cut violently short.

The senseless act of targeted violence shook the country and led Parliament to designate Dec. 6 as The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women.

The agency is hosting a ceremony at Red Deer City Hall from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and another at the Lacombe Memorial Centre from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.
