Red Deer College’s new head of security and emergency response will be wrestling with a new job, a new book and ongoing wrestling matches.

Vern May, 33, has taken on the job of manager of security and emergency response at RDC.

The wrestler of 16 years continues to wrestle and has matches booked into December of this year.

He is ranked in the top 500 wrestlers in the world in the latest issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated.

He is one of only 32 Canadians on the list which includes Chris Jericho, Tyson Kidd and Edge.

Later this fall May will also publish his book called Wrestling in the Canadian West, a history of wrestling in western Canada.

Of his new college job, May says he is impressed by Red Deer College’s progressive security program.

“They understand emergency response and being prepared,” he said in a college news release.

May comes to RDC from Simon Fraser University.
