Red Deerians will get a chance to celebrate sport during the seventh annual Xplore Sport Day next month.
The event, which happens in conjunction with the Red Deer PCN Fun Run and is held primarily at Capstone Canada 150 Square and select satellite locations throughout the city, is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 13.
“We are excited to bring the sport and recreation community together with Red Deerians once again this spring,” said PJ Swales, sport and recreation co-ordinator.
“Showcasing opportunities for healthy living, fun and activity allows us to benefit the community and our local sport and recreation organizations at the same time. This ideal is further highlighted by our continued partnership with the Red Deer PCN Fun Run.”
The free event aims to offer Red Deerians of all ages an opportunity to try a variety of sport and recreation activities available in the city.
Xplore Sport Day includes the presentation of the Rising Sport Star awards, which are presented to athletes 12 years old or younger who participate in a Red Deer sport organization and have demonstrated commitment, passion, effort or have overcome adversity to successfully participate and develop skills, regardless of result.
Guests are encouraged to visit the website to find information on which sporting groups are participating and where. For more information, visit www.reddeer.ca/XploreSport.
