A youth is in custody after allegedly making threats online about committing a shooting at a local high school.

A youth is in custody after allegedly making threats online about committing a shooting at a local high school.

Red Deer RCMP arrested the teen, who was known to police, after receiving information on the threats from Calgary Police on April 4.

The accused wrote on Facebook about his “desire to commit a shooting a local Red Deer high school,” according to an RCMP release.

The young male, who cannot be named due to his status as a minor, has been charged with uttering threats, breach of probation, and possession of a controlled substance.

The RCMP is continuing to investigate the matter.
