Youth charged after stabbing on Montana First Nation

A youth has been charged with aggravated assault after a stabbing on the Montana First Nation.

The victim was flown to an Edmonton hospital by STARS Air Ambulance and is being treated with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Maskwacis RCMP were called to a residence at 3 p.m. on June 9 to the reported stabbing. They arrested a 17-year-old male youth a short time later. He is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The youth can’t be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He was remanded into custody and will next appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court on June 21.
