Four youths have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault, and two others are pending arrest, after an elderly man was assaulted and sent to the hospital last month, says Red Deer RCMP.
At about 8:25 p.m. on Aug. 1, Red Deer RCMP responded to a call requesting assistance for an elderly man at 5020 47 Ave. Police were told the man was suffering from “serious head injuries” after being assaulted by multiple individuals outside his vehicle.
Police arrived at the scene and found the man, who needed “immediate medical attention.” He was transported to hospital via ambulance.
An investigation by Red Deer RCMP and the General Investigation Section led to the arrests of four youths, who have been charged with aggravated assault. The youths cannot be named due to their age.
Following judicial interim hearings, the four youths were released. They are set to appear in Alberta Court of Justice Youth Court on Sept. 21 in Red Deer.
