STANKIEVECH


Aaron Edward Stankievech passed away in the Three Hills hospital on April 4, 2017 at the age of 94. He was born in Huxley, Alberta on September 3, 1922 to Andrew and Antonia Stankievech, one of nine children. In 1943, he joined the RCAF and was sent overseas to England where he met his Scottish lassie, Margaret. On returning to Canada, he and brother, John, opened Trochu Motors in 1947 where he worked until 1994. He was very active in the community belonging to Elks, Masons, Trochu Arenas hockey team, Legion, fire department and St. Paul's United Church. He and Margaret liked to camp and took many trips, especially Scotland, his second home.

Aaron was predeceased by his mother and father and all his siblings, John (Daphne), Victoria Lammle, Leo, Ruth Hanna (Henry), Percy, Stanley, George, Walter (Ursula) and son-in-law, Larry Martens. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Margaret, and three daughters, Sheena (David) Banks, Karynne Frank and Sandra Martens. He was much loved by his four grandchildren, Michael Frank, Jennifer (Jared) Rutley, Kristopher Martens and Stefanie (Rob) Banks and his two great-grandchildren, Sienna and Justice Rutley. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Mina Livingston (Scotland), Lorena Stankievech and Verna Stankievech, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Aaron's life was held at the Trochu Fellowship Centre on Saturday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m. No flowers, please, by request. Donations in memory of Aaron may be made to St. Paul's United Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetltd.ca
