Aase Devereaux, 83 of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully on October 15, 2019.
She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on April 24, 1936 to Elna and Arnold Laursen. Aase was the middle of three children, with an older brother Erik and younger sister Annemarie. Aase lived a joyous, vibrant life although she endured a life long struggle with spina bifida. She was a very spirited, loving woman who embraced life. Aase enjoyed gathering with friends and family and always loved sharing a good laugh.
In 1972 Aase moved to Canada. She met John Devereaux and they were married on September 7, 1973. They spent a few years living in Calgary before building their home in Red Deer. Aase went on to pursue a career as a seamstress, owning her own nurses uniform store in Red Deer. After their retirement, Aase and John started spending their winters in Yuma, Arizona and enjoyed many fond memories with friends while soaking in the sun.
Aase is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, John; sister Annemarie; brother in law Charlie (Norma), sisters in law Connie and Margaret: nephews Rick (Susan), Cliff (Lorene), Claus (Tina), Morten (Annie), Roy (Judy), Dale (Cheryl), Glen (Wendy); nieces Donna (Terry) and Diana (Kelly)as well as many great nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Elna and Arnold, her brother Erik, brothers in law Benny, Glen and Jim and sister in law Irene.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11 am at the Black Knight Inn, Red Deer.
