Ada MOTTA

MOTTA Ada Mae Motta passed away peacefully on July 15, 2009 at Olds Hospital. Ada was born September 24, 1913 in Trochu, to Camillus (C.C.) and Clara Masterson. She graduated in the first graduating class of Trochu Valley School in 1930. Ada attended Calgary Normal School, then taught at Florence School Northwest of Trochu. After marrying Myron Dowell of Trochu in 1934, she became a homemaker. Ada often regaled friends with her fond memories of her years in Trochu, as she and Myron enjoyed entertaining friends in their home and were active in the community and St. Paul's United Church, where she taught Sunday School and led CGIT. Myron passed away in 1962. She moved to Red Deer in 1972, and married Glen Motta in 1974. They enjoyed an active life in Red Deer, where she attended Gaetz United Church, and where she and Glen made many good friends. Glen passed away in 1992. Ada remained active with crafts, baking, and visiting with friends and relatives. Ada continued to live in Red Deer until she moved to Olds in 2007. Ada is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Don and Brenda Dowell of Trochu and Bryan and Donna Dowell of Olds, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Henrietta Quigley, her brother-in-law Tiny Bishop, sister-in-law Betty Dowell, many loving nephews and nieces from the Dowell and Masterson families, and a host of friends. In addition to Myron Dowell and Glen Motta, Ada is pre-deceased by her sister Blanche Bishop and her brother-in-law Mel Quigley. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul United Church in Trochu at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 23, 2009. A fellowship time will follow at the Baptist Youth Center in Trochu.
