Agnes Muriel

Passed away on Nov. 6, 2009, at the Lacombe Community Health Centre, at the age of 73. She is survived by her loving husband Stewart Calkins of Lacombe, Daughter Teresa (Ron) Barritt of Alix AB, Sons Larry (Belinda) Smith of Chilliwack B.C., Lloyd (Cheryl) Smith of Clive AB. Walter (Julie) Smith of Chilliwack B.C., Stepdaughters Gwen Calkins of Calgary, Shelly (Johnny) Beach of Morningside AB. Jeff (Heather) Calkins of Calgary AB., nine Grand children, Six Step grandchildren, and her sisters Jean (Lawrence) Rutschke of Wetaskawin AB, Phyllis (Fletcher) Waldo of Red Deer Ab., Mary Husband of Red Deer AB, Gwen Mackenzie -Grieve of Red Deer, Ruth (Bill) Cole of Penhold AB. Joyce (Russell) Bowe of Innisfail AB. Sheila (Lynn) Averil of Innisfail Ab. Linda (Lyle) Krause of Dixon Ab. Sherry (Darrell) of Calgary . Brothers Donald Mackenzie-Grieves of Innisfail , Allen (Emily) Mackenzie-Grieves of B.C. Also left to mourn her passing is numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Agnes was predeceased by her loving Parents James and Thelma MacKenzie-Grieves and her granddaughter Shylowe Marie Barritt. Agnes was raised on the family farm west of Innisfail on the Cottonwood Rd. Coming from a large family she learned early in life the meaning of hard work, the joys of a loving family and the beauty of nature. She enjoyed the simple pleasures life offered her and never complained when things got tough and her load was heavy. Agnes was loved deeply and will be remembered for her unbelievable courage and strength in her every day struggle with the crippling effects of arthritis, the love for her children, grandchildren her passion for life, gardening, and bird watching. We will miss her sense of humour, her laughter, her compassion and wisdom. Our hearts are aching, but they are filled with your memories and your love. Our mother, wife and sister forever. Funeral services for Agnes will be held November 12, 2009 at St. Andrews United Church, 5226-51 Avenue, Lacombe Alberta, at 2 pm.
