ANDREW Albert Cecil Andrew passed away peacefully at his home in Blackfalds on February 14, 2009 following a lengthy illness associated with a genetic condition called "Spinocerebellar Ataxia." "Cec" was born on November 21, 1930 in Eckville, Alberta, the son of Frank and Clara Andrew. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Bernadine, brother Walter, and grandson Tyler Scoville. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Helen, daughter Diane Scoville of Red Deer, son, Darryl (Gail) of Blackfalds and daughter Shelley Wierenga (Dave) of Lacombe, grand- children; Stacey Scoville (Tony), Tanner Scoville, Terra Scoville (Shaun), Jody Metzger (Robin), Richard Bradford-Andrew (Rebecca), Shauna Wierenga (Chris), and Kale Wierenga (Kassie), great grandchildren’ Chase, Deacon, Phoenix, Maverick, Jesse, Kitt, and Fynn. As well as hios brother Russell (Betty) fo Olds Alberta, Sister Ethel Osberg of Okotoks Alberta, sister-in-law Evelyn Andrew of Eckville and numerous nieces and nephews. Cec’s lifetime work was in the sand and gravel business throughout Alberta and since 1964 operated out of Blackfalds, Alberta with the assistance of his family. He was an avid sports participant and played hockey with several local teams from Nordegg, Eckville, Lacombe and ending with the Oldtimer Hockey teams of Lacombe and Red Deer. In the summer, he was an enthusiastic "first baseman" for teams from Lockhart, Blackfalds, and again with Lacombe and Red Deer Oldtimer Leagues. Many a week-end was spent camping or trail-riding with family and good friends, first in a tent and ending with a motor home. His children and grandchildren have lots of fond memories and stories of those happy times. Funeral Services will be held from St. Andrew’s United Church, 5226-51 Ave., Lacombe on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Fellowship and refreshments will follow in the United Church Hall. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lacombe Minor Hockey, Baseball or Ringette Associations or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
