Albert went peacefully to be with his Saviour just one week before his 88th birthday. He leaves behind to mourn his loving wife of 60 years, Jean, daughters; Janet, Kathy (Gerrit Vanderdeen), Alice, and son, Gerald (Liz), three granddaughters; Theresa (Justin Ng and sons Daniel and James), Heather and Amanda as well as his younger brother, Geert (Henny) in the Netherlands. He was predeceased by his older sister and brother in the Netherlands. Albert was born in Zwolle, the Netherlands and came to Canada in 1952. Jean and her family came over a year later and they married in 1954. They settled in Red Deer and he worked for Alpha Dairy for 38 years. After he retired, Albert enjoyed puttering around his yard, going for walks and rooting for the Flames. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church, 16 McVicar Street, Red Deer, on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Donations made in Albert's honour may be made to the charity of your choice.
