Al passed away peacefully at St Mary's Hospital Camrose, AB.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Janet; daughters Traci Moir (Grant,) Lisa de Laforest (Randy Bunse), Sherri Merkel (Murray); Grandchildren Megan, Tanner & Kieran Bunse, Amy & Ryan Moir, Jacob Merkel; brother Laurent (Irene) de Laforest; sisters Annette Perra, Louise (Terry) Keith; Stepsons Dave Peacock (Keren Sorenson), Randy Peacock (Deb Brazier) Step-grandchildren: Derek (Michelle), Kolin, Lucas and Anika Peacock; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Paul de Laforest, Marie de Laforest, stepmother Mary de Laforest; brothers Marcel, Henri, Eddie and Denis.
Al enjoyed golf, traveling and cheering for his favourite teams; Calgary Flames and Saskatchewan Rough Riders. He worked for New Holland, Federal Business Development Bank (BDC) and Saskatchewan Farm Credit Corporation.
After retirement, he spent many enjoyable years working in the Pro Shop at Alberta Springs Golf Resort.
Al was born at Hotchkiss, AB and over the years lived at Hotchkiss, Wabasca, AB, then Forget, Whitewood and Regina, Sask. While working for FBD he and his family lived in Winnipeg, Calgary and Red Deer. He then spent time in Weyburn and North Battleford, Sask before returning to Red Deer.
A celebration of Life will be held at Alberta Springs Golf Resort Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 2 pm. Memorial donations in Al (Dela)'s memory may be made to one's charity of choice.
