Smooth Rock Falls, ON

Died: August 29, 2014

Red Deer Hospice,

Red Deer AB

Saddened by his leaving this earth is his companion Dolores (Dodie), her sons David Fawcett and his daughters Aysha (Levi)Clark and Hayley Fawcett; Dale Fawcett and his wife Tania and their children Shanyce and Dj. He also leaves his great grandchildren Carter, Aurora and Autumn Clark. Father and mother in law, Harold & Velma Chick. His sister-in-law, Helen Mason, nieces and nephews in Ontario. A host of caring friends and extended family. Albert was pre-deceased by his Mother, Father and two brothers. Albert was born in Northern Ontario and during his growing up years lived in various small towns. He was a member of the pipe and drum corp and loved all sports. His passion for golf began in his early 20's and it remained his passion until a stroke left him unable to play. At Riverbend Golf Course he managed his only hole-in-one. If you were a scratch golfer or a novice, as long as you loved the game he was ready for another 18 holes. Albert moved to Alberta in 1980 and in 1981 began his career with the City of Red Deer as the Manager of the Red Deer Arena. It was not a "job" for Albert, he enjoyed the many aspects of manager from watching the children learning to skate, hockey and figure, to the Silver Blades, to the Rustler games. He was proud the Rustlers played out of his arena. Ab and Dolores were married in 1988. Although he was never a parent he was a wonderful grandfather and poppa. He loved the "little people" and they loved him back. He wanted to know what all of the nieces and nephews were involved in to ensure accuracy when he bragged about them. Ab's body played its last game of golf long before Ab was prepared to quit. We are thankful peaceful sleep finally came and the release from pain. A coffee party will be held in the Red Deer Room at the Red Deer Lodge on Sunday September 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Please bring your memories and share a Tim Horton's coffee in celebration of Albert's life. In lieu of flowers donations to the Red Deer Hospice Society would be very much appreciated. 99 Arnot Ave, Red Deer AB T4R 3S6.
