Alfred HORNSETH

HORNSETH, Alfred Harold "Alf" Hornseth of Red Deer, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at the age of 80 years. Alf was born on September 27, 1925 on his parent's farm in the Haynes District. Alf was a kind man, a strong and loving husband, wonderful father and a good friend. A longtime Red Deer resident, he was a member of the Red Deer Elks Club, the Royal Canadian Legion and also the Masonic Lodge. Alf loved his trade and worked in the Road Construction Industry for most of his life. He was an Honourary Life Member of the Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association. Alf's work in road construction brought him many lifelong friendships throughout the province. After Alf retired in 1990, he purchased a farm near his boyhood home where he raised cattle, rode his saddle horse and "planted" fence posts. In his later years, Alf was disabled by a series of strokes, but in spite of his difficulties, he maintained his sense of humour, positive outlook on life and his love of people right to the end. Alf will be missed by his family and many dear friends. Alf leaves to mourn his loss, his wife of fifty-four years, Louise; and his son, Brad and his wife, Lauretta, his sister, Ida Scott, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law of the Hopkins family, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Alf was predeceased by his parents, Ethel and Sam, a sister, Ella, brothers-in-law, Clive Baker and Glen Hopkins and a sister-in-law, Myrna Hopkins. A Public Funeral Service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
