Alice Williamson passed away April 11, 2021 at the Red Deer Hospice, at the age of 93.
She was predeceased by her husband George Williamson in 1985. Alice leaves behind her 5 children. Ken (Terry) Williamson, Doug (Marilyn) Williamson, Jack (Terry) Williamson, Jean (Doug) Drury, and Tom (Vivian) Williamson, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Alice was the oldest of 8 children. After marrying George, they farmed near Granum Alberta and then moved to Red Deer in 1948. In 1952 they bought a farm east of Red Deer. Alice kept the books for the farm and their various business ventures while raising the 5 children. She was always involved in her community.
Over the years her many interests included: the Balmoral Women's Institute, River Glen Home and School Assoc., Gaetz United Church, Sunnybrook United Church, Square Dancing, Red Deer Historical Society, NDP, Council of Canadians, Golden Circle, and keeping score at her children's baseball games, to name a few.
Alice loved playing Canasta and watching Blue Jay games. She was also on the board of her Condo Association. Over the last couple years she was deeply involved in putting together the history of Sunnybrook United Church, where she was a founding member.
Although her eyes have being failing, her mind was sharp until the end.
Alice will be missed by her family and the many friends that she made over the years.
The family would like to thank the staff at RDRHC Emergency and Unit 21 for their care.
Also, the staff at the Red Deer Hospice, for the support she received there.
