August 13, 1957 - October 12, 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Allen Dale Knopp, son of Linda Ruth Mogdan-Knopp and Herbert Andrew Knopp (both deceased), adopted son of Arlene Knopp, and brother of Judith Bailey (Wayne) of White Rock, BC, Bernie Knopp (Michelle) of Calgary, and Larry Knopp (Loretta) of Vancouver, BC. and brother -in-law Dennis Dubay of Ft. Gratiot, MI. Allen's sister Janice Dubay passed away in 2019, his sister- in- law Rosemary Knopp in 2013.
Allen, age 64, grew up in Thorsby, AB, spent a few years living in Lacombe, AB, and ultimately resided in Red Deer. He was a journeyman plumber. He was born on August 13, 1957, in Edmonton, AB.
Allen was captain of the Schizophrenia Society Ball Team in Red Deer for a few years. He enjoyed writing poetry and won an award for one of his compositions. He liked listening to music, spending time on his computer and visiting with people. He had a very supportive network of friends who he met at "A Gathering Place" in Red Deer, AB, a clubhouse for adults with mental illness. Allen enjoyed its social atmosphere and did volunteer work there, as well. He was on the board for several years.

A private burial is planned in accordance with Allen's wishes at the Thorsby Seventh-Day Adventist Cemetery. These last years were more difficult for Allen as his body aged and took on more infirmities. While his passing is sad, for those of us who knew him well, we are comforted knowing he is now at peace. Allen read his Bible many times over and often quoted it.
His hope was that he would wake up on resurrection day with a new body and a healthy mind. Our hope is to see him in heaven one day.
