Alvin KLASSEN

March 29, 2006

KLASSEN Alvin Peter Klassen peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on March 24, 2006. He was born in Main Centre, Saskatchewan on August 26, 1917. Alvin received his education at Capeland Rural School in Saskatchewan. He married Mary Dyck on July 13, 1939 and together they farmed at Main Centre until 1969. He then worked for Peavey Industries in Swift Current, Grande Prairie and Red Deer and retired in 1994. Serving on the church board and directing the choir were important ministries to Alvin. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching hockey games and, more recently, coffeeing with his "buddies". Although his physical health deteriorated, he was always very aware of and interest in what was going on with his children, grandchildren and friends. Alvin was predeceased by his wife Mary in February, 2003. He will be sadly missed by all those whose lives he touched. Alvin is survived by his seven children: Wilbert (Esther) Klassen, Adeline (Dan) Heidebrecht, Herb (Ruth) Klassen, Dwayne (Judy) Klassen, Dick (Deb) Klassen, Vic (Coleen) Klassen and Mel (Heidi) Klassen, 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Alvin's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Bethany Baptist Church, 3901 44 St. Red Deer. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church. At Alvin's request, donations may be made to the Gideons.
