PARSONS, Amy Esther

1936 - 2017

Amy Esther Parsons left this earthly life on October 9, 2017, just as she lived it, surrounded by family who loved her dearly.

She began her life journey on March 16, 1936 in Oklahoma School District, west of Innisfail. She was born to her homesteading parents, Lela (Walker) and John Nimmo, and was also welcomed by an older sister Annie. Amy and Annie became fast companions who looked forward to having their younger sister, Jean.

Amy has been welcomed into Heaven by her Mother and Father, also her sister Annie (Ernie) Webb, and her sister Jean Hittel (Bill Greenwood). Her daughter, Linda Kraska-Kroes, husband Ken of Okotoks, grandson, James Kraska of Edmonton, and granddaughter Julia Kraska of Calgary loved and cared for her until Amy passed from this earth. She also leaves behind a son, Bob Parsons of BC, a sister Pat (Bill) Allen of Lacombe, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Amy attended school in the Oklahoma District, completing her high school at the Lindsay Thurber Composite High School, living in "the dormitory" which was the previous army barracks in Red Deer graduating with senior matriculation. Amy's first job after working very hard on the farm, was at the Toronto Dominion bank in downtown Calgary. She later worked at The Calgary Herald and for the Calgary School Board in the library.

Amy spent many days camping at Red Lodge Park, playing cards, cooking and volunteering. She also loved gardening and was very proud of her green thumb growing beautiful flowers and vegetables.
