Andrew MOYER

May 7, 2009

MOYER Andrew Thomas (Andy) Moyer was born in Shaunavon, SK to parents August Peter Moyer and Christine Fritz on June 7, 1935. When it dried out in Shaunavon the family moved to Manitoba; first to Elphinstone then to Sandy Lake and finally to Onanole. The Moyer family had grown to 14 children and it must have been a struggle to have enough food and the resources to educate all the children. Andy worked at various jobs around home then moved west to Alberta where he started working in the oil patch and consequently spent a lot of time in the industry. Andy met Viola France and they were married on April 17, 1965 and to this union came a girl Denise followed by a boy Danny. Andy being in the oil patch, the family started out in Calgary, moved to Drumheller then to Red Deer, Rocky Mountain House, Leduc and Innisfail. After the children were grown Andy and Vi moved to Big Valley, Alberta after their retirement. It was at this point Andy started tinkering on used lawn mowers and other small powered equipment, he was often observed in cover-alls going about his work. Andy suffered a major heart attack on December 22, 2008 at the age of 73 and was transported to the Foothills Hospital in Calgary; after he received treatment he was then transferred back to Stettler Hospital and with the excellent care from Doctor Drummond and the staff of Stettler Health Care Centre, he was able to be close to family until his passing on April 11, 2009. Andy leaves to mourn his wife Viola Moyer (married 44 years); daughter Denise Ehrman of Calgary and Danny Moyer of Airdrie; plus four grandchildren. He also leaves his siblings, their spouses and families: eight brothers: Sylvester, Martin, Ambrose, Phillip, Ralph, Vincent, Vernon and Gordon; five sisters: Cecellia, Agnes, Madeline, Theresa and Sharon; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Andy worked hard during his life and cared strongly for his family, always welcoming a visit, they will miss him deeply. He was predeceased by his father August (1978), mother Christine (1992) and one brother Roger. Cremation was entrusted to Stettler Funeral Home and Andy will be buried at a later date.
