Anna ROSE

June 17, 2009

ROSE (Peters) Anna Oct. 30, 1914 - June 13, 2009 Anna (Peters) Rose died peacefully in her sleep on June 13, 2009 at Zion Park Manor, Surrey, BC. where she had been a resident for the past nine years. After 94 years, her strong heart helped her take the last step from our world into the life God has prepared for all who have received the gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. In the words of CS Lewis, "The term is over: the holidays have begun. The dream is ended: this is the morning." She was predeceased by her parents, Henry D. Peters and Aganetha Goertzen Peters, who were dairy farmers in the Mountain Lake area of Minnesota where Anna was born. Anna was also predeceased by four sisters Aganetha, Maria, Helen and Justina, by six brothers, Henry, David, Dietrich, Isaac, Jake and Ted and by her step-mother, Anna Loewen (Strauss) Peters. Anna was also predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Rev. William G. (Bill) Rose in 1976. Together they served for 23 years of pastoral ministry in churches of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada: Hanna, AB., Hawarden/Outlook, SK., Kamloops, BC., Red Deer, AB., and Regina, SK. They then joined the faculty of Canadian Bible College in Regina, SK. where Anna served as Dean of Women for 20 years. She is survived by her three children and their spouses Bob (Carol) Rose of Surrey, BC., Vi Becker (Jerry Bouma) of Edmonton, AB., and Lois (Duane) Thiessen of Rivera, Uruguay, South America. Rounding out her family legacy are 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Anna was a woman of faith, courage, wisdom, discernment, grace and wit and one who cultivated the art of staying young-at-heart throughout her life. She was the quintessential life-long learner with a great love for reading. As a mentor, counselor, teacher and life model she left a legacy imprint on hundreds of women and men whose lives she touched. A memorial service will be held June 26, 2009 at 2:00 pm. at Rosewood Park Alliance Church in Regina. The "Rev. William & Anna Rose Memorial Scholarship" has been established at Ambrose University College (150 Ambrose Circle S.W., Calgary, AB T3H 0L5; Tel. 1-403-410-2000) for any wishing to donate to a ministry that was very much a part of Anna's life.
