HALVERSON Annie Rebecca "Nan" passed away in Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital Extendicare on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Born in London England on January 14, 1920, Nan's family resided and farmed near Castor, the very same farm that Alberta and Susan Oram live on today. As she grew up and starting at a very young age she helped on the farm driving horses, fencing, feeding cattle among other farm duties. Nan's education was to Grade 11 and was taken at Lauderdale School where she rode or drove horses 4 miles to school and sometimes even walked to school. Nan liked preserving wild berries like saskatoons, chokecherries, and raspberries, and loved to read as well. She didn't like pincherries but always picked them for other people. She enjoyed her card games; her garden and helping with any outside jobs. Even in her later years Nan enjoyed going out to the farm after she retired and helping out. Following Nan's retirement Nan and Peggy went and traveled across Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Fiji, and saw much of the world to which they both really enjoyed. Predeceased by her parents Olaf and Jessie; brother Keith; sister Janet (Lester) Johnson; brother in law Frank; nephews Brett Oram and Elwood Johnson; Nan is survived by her sister Peggy Oram and sister in law Violet Turre both of Castor; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other family and a host of many friends. A private family funeral service and interment was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Should family or friends desire memorial contributions may be made in Nan's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
