Archie Goodbun of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully on November 4, 2019 at the age of 88 years. He obtained his teaching certificate in Manitoba and later his degree through the University of Alberta. He began teaching in Red Deer in 1964 until his retirement in 1986.
In 1963 Archie married Joan Vivian Robert in Calgary and after moving to Red Deer, they soon welcomed their cherished daughters, Jane and Nancy. Years raising children were highlighted with living east of Red Deer in the Balmoral Subdivision and space for horses and participation in both 4H and Pony Club activities. Archie and Joan were members of St. Luke's and St. Leonard's Anglican Churches until they relocated to Calgary in their later years to be closer to family.
Archie had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed a good political discussion. He loved to play his guitar and was a man of integrity and values. A handshake was golden in his books.
Archie will be dearly missed by his daughters, Jane Forgay and Nancy (Brian) Hooge and son-in-law Bill Forgay. He adored his grandchildren who affectionately called him "Papa". He will be lovingly remembered by Allison (Charles) Forgay-Gray, Kimberly Forgay, Emily Hooge and Matt Hooge. He was further blessed in 2018 with a great-grandson, Coltan Gray.
Archie was predeceased by Joan (April, 2019) his loving wife of 56 years. May they rest in eternal peace together again.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Alto-Reste Cemetery east of Red Deer at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
