July 17, 1941 - May 9, 2025

Arlene Murphy, beloved wife of John James Murphy, of Red Deer, AB, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the age of 83 years.

Arlene was born in Mission, BC, on July 17, 1941. She later graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School in Surrey, BC. A homemaker for thirty years, Arlene also pursued interests in her community. She volunteered at The Military Museums in Calgary, AB. She also had a passion for dancing and found opportunities at the international cinema in the 1950s. Her most memorable vacation was when she took a camper van across Canada.

She is survived by her sons, Carl (Elizabeth), Phil (Marleen), and Kieth; her daughters, Michele, Melanie (Pete), Sylvia, and Gail (Terry); her fifteen grandchildren and her thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Raymond (Heather) Ambler and Dale Ambler, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Arlene was predeceased by her loving husbands, Gerald Bruce, and John James Murphy; her son, Alleyn Murphy; and her parents, Gladys and Henry Ambler.

The family would like to thank the dedicated teams with Alberta Health Services, including palliative care.
