1930 - 2014

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur "Art" James Berry on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the age of 84 years. Art was born in Lloydminster, SK and raised on the family farm near Marwayne, AB. Art attended Alberta College in Edmonton and went on to have a lifetime career in the construction industry in both Regina and Red Deer, culminating in owning his own business as a housing contractor in Red Deer: Arber Crest Homes. Art's memory will be cherished by his loving family: his devoted wife of 60 years Shirley, their three children, Laurie (Karl) Jonas and their children Erich (Nicole) and Andrew; Kathy (Henry) Klumpenhower and their children, Jason (Shari), Heather (Ryan) Plett, and Alisa (Brian) Barnim; George (Laura) and their children, Rachael and Sarah. Art also leaves an endless source of delight, his eleven great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by special cousin, Maria Cooper and family of Hobart, Australia and long-time friends, Ernie and Mary Litzenburger and family of Regina, SK as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Art was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Margaret, Andrew and Harold. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Red Deer Hospice for their wonderful care and support. A Memorial Service to celebrate Art's life will be held at the Sunnybrook United Church, 12 - Stanton Street, Red Deer, AB on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society 99 - Arnot Avenue, Red Deer AB T4R 3S6.
