HILKER Arthur Patrick "Pat" Passed away peacefully on April 16, 2009 at Eagle Ridge Hospital at the age of 87 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Elna; sister Betty; son Gary; daughter Lenore and grandson Scotty. Pat is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Donna (Rob) MacLean; ten grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; brother, Bob (Roxanne); sister, Joyce (Romeo); brother-in-law, Harvey Mitchell and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Pat, born March 17, 1922 in Donalda, Alberta was a World War 2 vet who enlisted in 1940. He served in the 22/78 Battery, 13th Canadian Field Regiment, and achieved the rank of Gunner. He served in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and Central Mediterranean theatres. Much of his service was in Italy. He returned to civilian life at the end of the war working as a Heavy Duty mechanic in logging camps in British Columbia, and owned and operated a Chevron Station Garage on Hastings Street in Burnaby. The family wish to thank the Health Care staff of Eagle Ridge Hospital and the Fraser Health Community Team for their loving care of Pat. Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, BC with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
