ATCHISON It is with great sorrow, the family of Alice Atchison (nee Simonin) announce her passing on February 26, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Alice was born and raised in Cluny, Alberta, the second oldest of 5 children born to Luke and Gladys Simonin. She went on to Beauty School in Calgary, and moved to Brooks, Alberta to continue her career where she met Ivan Atchison. They were married in Cluny on November 12, 1966 and made their home in Brooks for 35 years. Alice was a devoted homemaker until 1980, when Ivan started Big "I" Construction, and she became his secretary/bookkeeper. They worked side by side until their retirement in April 2000. In June o f 2001, Alice and Ivan moved to Red Deer to be closer to their children and grandchildren, where she resided until her passing. Alice leaves to mourn her loving husband of 42 years, Ivan Atchison, her son, Kevin (Kathy) Atchison and their two sons; Daniel and Matthew and her daughter, Kellie Atchison (Jeremy Matus) and her three daughters; Brittany, Cassy and Dakota Schepp. She will also be lovingly remembered by her two brothers; Sonny and Ronny and two sisters; Dianna and Linda as well as her brothers and sisters in law and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Alice also leaves to mourn her extended family and friends from Leisure Campground at Pine Lake and all of the friends she made throughout her lifetime. She was predeceased by her parents, Luke and Gladys Simonin. Alice had a great sense of humour and was never afraid to draw on the strength of her family to get her through trying times. The love and warmth she showed everyone she met will always be remembered. A Celebration of Alice's Life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Michael Blanche officiating.
