SCHAEDEL Balthasar (Walter) Schaedel Jr. was born in Harta, Hungary on April 28, 1932. He came to Canada with his parents in 1951 to the Lethbridge area. He then moved to the Halkirk area to help his parent's farm. On September 15, 1968 he married Shirley Seidlitz and to this union three daughters were born. He worked on the railroad to help ends meet. The family left the farm in 1987 and moved to Stettler where he resided until his passing. He was predeceased by his parents Balthasar and Maria Schaedel; his daughter Marie Ann; and sister Theresa in Slovensko. He is survived by his wife Shirley; his daughters Lorie Lynn and Rose May; sisters Katherine Bognar of Castor and Maria Katranitz in Germany; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends in Canada and Europe. Funeral services were held in the Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home & Crematorium on May 20, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Karl Faltin of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment was at Lake View Cemetery in Stettler, Alberta with Bob Seidlitz, Adam Seidlitz, Herman Seidlitz, Tim Beausoliel, Carl Borgal and Richard McBride as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Hans Cluver, Ron Radke, Stan Anderson, Ed Zweifel, Jack Anderson and Ken Anderson. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Canadian Diabetes c/o Stettler Funeral Home.
