BAUMGARTE Mr. Pieter Baumgarte, beloved husband of Mrs. Lieuwkje Baumgarte of Blackfalds, Alberta, passed away after a lengthy battle with Emphysema at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the age of 82 years. Pieter was born on December 31, 1923 at Rotterdam, Holland. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and a trusted friend. Pieter was a carpenter by trade and loved and enjoyed his work. He was an exceptionally strong man of traditional values who believed in working hard and providing for his family. Yet he had a softness and a very special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Keeta. During his illness, it was very difficult for Pieter to remain idle and not be able to be active at what he loved to do. Pieter will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Pieter leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Lieuwkje of Blackfalds, Alberta, his children, Maria (Danny) Marianich of Sundre, Alberta, Gary Baumgarte, (Jocelyn) of Red Deer, Martina Baumgarte, also of Blackfalds, Ron Baumgarte (Carol) of Benalto, Alberta and Yvonne White (Kevin), also of Blackfalds, as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Deni Baumgarte, as well as numerous other extended family members and friends. Pieter was predeceased by his parents, Francina and Pieter, a brother, Koos and a sister, Jans. Prayers will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. A Public Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
