SANDVIK Bernice After a short illness at the age of 90, Bernice Ansena Sandvik passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009. The only child of Neal and Julia Ford, she was born November 14, 1918, in Hanna, AB. At an early age they moved to Rainy River, ON. After graduating Rainy River High School she returned to Alberta for Business College in Calgary. During the following World War, she worked in a wartime factory in Buffalo, New York, and enlisted in the SPARS (U.S. Coast Guard). Married in 1949 to Edward Norman Sandvik of Rainy River, they resided there until retirement. During these years, Bernice worked as an administrative secretary for the Rainy River Hospital and the Northwestern Health Unit. She was a Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Bernice was a 'people person' and will be sadly missed. Left to mourn her loss is her son Edward Sandvik, daughter-in-law Linda, grandsons: Devin and Steven, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
