Whether it was being at the birth of her first grandchild in Australia, hiking into a volcano in the Canary Islands or feeding butterflies in St. Marten, Bettejean passed on a passion for travel to both her children. Later in life as health confined Bettejean to a wheelchair her travel changed to exploring trails with her husband while watching wildlife, picking wild berries or just getting a fabulous tan.

The family is eternally grateful to her friends Geri, Min, Josephine, Doreen and Shirley at Revera Inglewood who added so much to her life and to Keri at Michener Extendicare who was a wonderful source of joy and happiness in the last month of Bettejean's life.

A celebration of Bettejean's life focusing on her and her grandchildren was held at the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home on Monday August 21 and an interment followed in the Red Deer Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta. As an expression of sympathy, a donation in Bettejeans's name can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
