BOE Mr. Melford Alfred Boe, beloved father of Wendy, BarbeeLee and Gordon, quietly passed away in Parksville, BC on January 8, 2008, at the age of 81 yrs. Mel was born on April 16th, 1926 in Bateman, SK to Clifford and Manetta Henrietta Boe (Doering). Mel grew up in the Bateman area then moved with his family to a farm in the Haynes area near Joffre, AB. Mel met his future wife, Lois Anne Ferguson from the Nebraska District near Tees, AB and they were married on November 23, 1947 in Tees, AB. Mel and Lois raised their three children in Alix, Red Deer and Winnipeg, MB. Mel operated a service station in Alix and then moved the family to Red Deer where he began his long successful career in insurance spanning thirty years from Winnipeg to Nanaimo, BC. In Nanaimo, Mel and Lois built, owned and managed Jingle Pot Campsites. In 1989, Mel and Lois moved to Abbotsford, BC where they enjoyed many years of retirement traveling in their motor home. In 2005, Lois passed away and Mel moved back to Vancouver Island where he spent his remaining years in Parksville. Mel was an active and respected member of every community he lived in; from Fire Chief in Alix, AB, Toastmaster member in Nanaimo, to president of Strata Associations in Abbotsford and Parksville, B.C. Mel is lovingly survived by his children, Wendy Rogers (Glenn) of Parksville, BarbeeLee Moraes (Clyde) of Nanaimo and Gordon Boe of San Francisco, California, his grandchildren Christopher Rogers, Corey Rogers, Lucretia Delmos, Don Moraes (Cora-Lee) and Mandy Moraes, his brothers Don Boe (Ethel) of Clive AB, Larry Boe (Lynn) of Creston,BC and his sister Erlene Oslund (Elmer) of Edmonton, AB.; his aunt Ruth Anderson of Kelowna, BC and many nieces, nephews and cousins in AB and B.C. Mel was predeceased by his beloved wife Lois and his parents Clifford and Manetta Boe. Mel will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends and those who knew him in both Alberta and B.C. A Funeral Service of Mel's life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, AB on Friday, January 18th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mel's honour may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, N.W.T. and Nunavut, #101, 5208 - 53rd Avenue, Red Deer, AB T4N 5K2.
