JOSLIN Born in Lacombe, Alberta, April 1, 1927, Lorne Earl Joslin, passed away in his sleep December 8, 2006. Lorne lived most of his life in Clive where his interests were focused. He was a member of and active in the IOOF Red Deer lodge for 50 years, Charter Member Clive Lions Club, Associate Member of the Clive Legion Branch #171, the Clive Chamber of Commerce and the Community Hall Board. The Joslin family opened and operated Earl's Corner Service at the time of the Hiway 12 rerouting until 1961. Lorne also owned in partnership the Bomber Service along the strip know as Gasoline Alley south of Red Deer. Lorne received a long service award at the time of his retirement from the County of Lacombe for 32 years of dedication as a custodian for the Clive Schools. In 1993 he also received the Clive Legion Citizen of the Year Award in recognition of outstanding service to the community; also, Lion of the Year Award in 1996-1997. Lorne was known for his love of horses especially heavy draft horses and his passion for gardening for his own and in the community. Survived by his wife Theresa of 48 years, son Bill (Jocelyn & grandsons Travis and Wesley) of Spruce Grove, Alberta; son Mitchell of Pine Lake, Alberta; daughter Della Nitschke (Ross, grandson Joseph, granddaughters Sandra & Anne) of Beaverlodge, Alberta. Predeceased by an infant daughter Jean, an infant son Wallace and infant grandson Matthew and two brothers in law, Roy and Al. Also survived by brothers, Evertt (Marion) of Red Deer; Marvin of Spruce Grove; sister Nettie Harris of Red Deer, as well as many nieces and nephews. , Memorial service to be held on Wednesday, December 13, 1:30 p.m. at the Clive Community Hall, Clive AB.
