ROY, Brett William

1995 - 2016

We are heartbroken to announce the sudden loss of our 21 year old son Brett, who passed away, December 14, 2016, where he was born, at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton due to a VP shunt malfunction. He had a love for life and touched everyone he spent time with. He was born with Cerebral Palsy but didn't let it hold him back. From an early age, there were many people who helped him to be the person he was today and he considered all of them his friends. He loved trucks of any kind, music, playing simulation driving games, texting and snap chatting with friends and family, as well as playing pool. He attended KCS in Sylvan Lake in his early years, Poplar Ridge School and graduated from River Glen School. We would like to thank all of his teachers and aides for their dedication and patience. He was a unique young man and was taken much too soon. He will be forever missed by his parents Tom and Dawn; sister Ashley; grandmothers Verlea Mack and Carole Roy; uncles Derrick Mack (Dalyn Sjogren) and Rod Roy (children Nena and Joe, and their mother Claudia); aunts Deanne Roy, Jeannine Stuart (Rick Coley) Brad, Darren and families and Geoff and Andrea Stuart (Ken Valcourt), Ryan, Michael and Kevin Coley and families. He was predeceased by his grandfathers Bill Mack and Gerald Roy. We would like to thank the First Responders who came to the house, staff at RDRH Emergency, STARS Air Ambulance and the staff at the U of A Hospital. We know you all tried very hard to help him. A service to celebrate Brett's life will be held at the Deer Park Alliance Church, 2960 - 39 St., Red Deer, AB, on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the STARS Foundation, Box 570, 1441 - Aviation Park NE, Calgary AB T2E 8M7. Condolences to Brett's family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
