December 24, 1934 - March 6, 2023
In loving memory ~
Bruce was born in Matsqui, British Columbia, on December 24, 1934, to Bill and Gertrude Baynes. He was the youngest brother to Doreen, Shirley and Watson.
A career in the R.C.M.P. took him across Canada with posts in Red Deer, Edmonton, Peace River, Fredericton, and Victoria.
Bruce married Dorothy (nee Murray) of Red Deer and had two sons, Bill (Pauline) of Edmonton and Barry (Elizabeth) of Picton, Ontario. He married Anna (nee Pigula) of Edmonton and with her raised a daughter Anne-Marie (Ken) Popowich of Edmonton.
Later in life, he married Renate Brueggeman of Qualicum Beach. Renate had two sons Rainer (Margie) of Victoria and Juergen (Rhonda of Red Deer).
Bruce loved to hike, swim, read, travel, and listen to classical music. Though a quiet man by nature, he was quick with a smile or a laugh. He loved to visit with friends and family and until recently, was in regular contact to acknowledge family milestones. Bruce had 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Bruce passed in his sleep at Stanford Seniors Village in Parksville, B.C., on the evening of March 6, 2023. The family would like to thank the Stanford staff for their excellent and compassionate care of Bruce. No service at Bruce's request. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your local SPCA in his memory.
