WOODROW, Bud

Bud (Lloyd Wilson)- 1925 - 2004

Born July 4, 1925, passed away in Calgary at the Colonel Belcher Veterans Care Centre on June 25, 2004 surrounded by his family. Bud is survived by his wife, Vera and daughter, Margaret Dawn (Ray) Miyagishima and their children Mariko and Todd, and son Blair (Margaret) and their children Carla, Ben and Bethany, and son Brent. He is also survived by his brother Lorne and sister Ruth, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Helen in 1991 and his brother Ken in 2003. Bud was born in Lacombe, Alberta. He spent all but one year of his life in Calgary. He went to fight for his country as a young man. After his return, he started his work with the post office, where he remained for over thirty years. After retirement, he was involved extensively in a number of community and nonprofit organizations including the Geritol Jivers. Bud loved life - he thrived on meeting new people and helping them out whenever he could. Bud was a lifelong active member of the United Church, for many years with Hillhurst and later with Knox. Among his many interests was composting and he took this very seriously, offering compost to all his friends whether they wanted it or not. Even after his stroke, he would keep us all cheerful humming his favourite songs. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the many staff who cared for Bud in so many different ways during his time at the Colonel Belcher Veterans' Care Centre. Every single member of the Belcher community cared for Bud and for all of us like family and we wish to express our utmost appreciation for their loving care, compassion and concern. For this we will be forever grateful. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, June 29 2004 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
