BUTLER 1924- 2007 Mr. John Arthur Butler of Red Deer, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the age of 83 years. John was born on March 14, 1924 at Red Deer, Alberta. He joined the Air Force which allowed him to travel all over Canada as an airplane mechanic. John always had a passion for farming and returned to it after his time in the Air Force was over. He married his soul mate Edna Kyme on November 29, 1948. Together they bought a farm in Shadynook, raising two boys and two girls. John enjoyed going to farm auctions. He enjoyed his volunteer work for Sunnybrook Farm and the Air Force Association. John loved spending time with his family and friends, going on picnics, bowling, and playing cards. He is survived by his wife Edna of 58 years , two daughters, Jean (Jim Chen) of Calgary, Rose Marie (Arthur Barker) of Red Deer, two sons, Ken, Bill (Joan) both of Red Deer, three grandchildren, Chris (Nicola), Trevor (Jenn Smith), Lindsey (Mike) Persson, four great grandchildren, Ruby, Grace, Nathan, April and a sister, Kay Swift and family. John was predeceased by his father George in 1975 and his mother Kathleen in 1999. A Memorial Service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45 Street, Red Deer on Friday July 6, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Family Interment will follow at Alto-Reste Cemetery.
