LINDWALL Calvin Lindwall of Red Deer passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at the age of 78 years. Cal was born in Edmonton 78 years ago and was raised on a farm near Magrath, Alberta by his parents, Roy and Emily. He graduated from S.A.I.T. in 1947 where he studied Aeronautical Engineering. Cal and his wife, Mona began farming in 1948 near Wrentham where he was very active in community activities which included being a Scout Master for many years. He was also an active member of the Lions Club and the Royal Order of Masons in Lethbridge. He loved restoring antique cars and Volkswagon Bugs. In 1969, they sold the farm and moved to Red Deer where they built their dream home. Cal and his long time best friend, Hal Nelson started a GM dealership in Ponoka which they managed for ten years. Later, Calvin had a Subaru dealership and managed the RV Service Department at Southside Dodge Chrysler in Red Deer before retiring ten years ago. Cal and Mona were able to do some travelling before and after retirement. They visited Greece, Israel, Australia, Hawaii and Mexico and they spent a few winters in Arizona. Cal continued to enjoy restoring cars until his passing. He was very proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Cal will be lovingly remembered by two sons: Calvin Wayne (Karen) Lindwall of Ottawa and Bernie (Cindy) Lindwall of Nanaimo, one daughter, Peggy (Dick) Wynia of Abbottsford and six grandchildren: Stephen, Trevor, Darren, KC, Kyle and Tai Marie. He was predeceased by his wife Ramona (nee Storfie) in September of last year.
