Candace PARADIS

October 15, 2009

PARADIS Candace Holley 1955 - 2009 It is with sadness that we announce the death of Candace Paradis on Thursday, Oct 8, 2009 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Candace was predeceased by her father, Douglas Jeffery in 2002. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Robert, her sons Christopher, Justin, and Benjamin, all from Red Deer as well as her mother Wanda in London, Ont. She also leaves seven siblings: Reginald (London), George (Fredericton), Deborah (Windsor), Judy (Charlottetown), Janice (Slave Lake), Karen (Ft Myers, Fla.), and Keith (London). Candace and Bob wed in Kapuskasing Ontario on August 22, 1974 and moved to Thunder Bay, Ont. where they continued their education. Over the next several years, work led them to Montreal, PQ. and eventually Sarnia, Ont. during which time they began raising their young family. In 1985, with Bob accepting a position with Nova Chemicals (Joffre, Ab.) and with three young children in tow, Candace decided she would return to college as a full-time student to pursue her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. She proudly graduated from RDC in 1988 and began her new career at the Red Deer Regional Hospital working first on the surgical units and later in the Recovery Room. In addition to her ongoing family focus, her dedication in nursing and interests in volunteering and various crafts, Candace discovered a passion for motorcycling at a relatively late stage in her life. She looked forward to summers when she could be out riding in the mountains north and south of the border. She became active in the local Harley Davidson HOG chapter in the late 1990's and enjoyed the camaraderie of the biker community through the remainder of her life. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate in her memory are asked to make their donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. A very special thanks to the all staff at the RDRH. In particular, to the doctors for their continuing efforts to vanquish this disease and, to the nursing staff whose professionalism, compassion, and dedication to health care make all our lives easier to bear under the circumstances. A memorial service to celebrate Candace's life will be held at the Sunnybrook United Church on Friday October 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
