October 13, 1949 - July 28, 2020
Carolyn was born in Port Arthur, Ontario October 13, 1949, the third child of Jack and Rose Paxton. Carolyn grew up playing any sport she could from volleyball to baseball. At a football game she met Robert (Bob) Eger who was playing the game, she then ran into Robert again at a monthly dance in 1968. They eloped on June 24, 1972.
Carolyn was a kind loving person that enjoyed life to the fullest and made a lot of friends along the way. Full of energy and always having to keep herself busy. Carolyn enjoyed curling in her earlier years and played competitively for a few years after moving from Port Arthur to Calgary Alberta. Where she worked at the City of Calgary. She told Robert she would give Alberta 5 years.
A relocation to Red Deer after 8 years in Calgary. Carolyn worked for Manpower as a temp placement till she found her place at Westock Frame and Wheel. She had continued curling and made some really good friends and took up golf in the summer months. During the summer if you couldn't find her, she was golfing.
Carolyn was an amazing loving supportive mother to her daughter Kerri Lynn Eger. She also loved being a grandmother to her 2 grandsons Jeremy Hutzkal and Austin Hutzkal. She encouraged them all to try different sports, she was always at their hockey games cheering them on from the stands with Kerri. When the boys took up snowboarding, she was there. In her late 60's she was even contemplating taking up snowboarding so she could snowboard with them. Carolyn was also an amazing great grandmother that was able to keep up to her great grand babies Kale and Mckenna at the age of 65.
May 2019, Carolyn was diagnosed with stage 4 extreme Small Cell Lung Cancer. Was given a few months without treatment and up to a year with treatment. Stubborn and still full of life and positivity she fought hard to prove that she would make it to her daughter's wedding that was set for June 2020, over 12 months away.
Carolyn with the support and love of her daughter, son in law and grandchildren and close friends and medical doctors was able to see her daughter married. Carolyn was there to enjoy and watch her daughter get married.
After 15 months of stubborn strength and fight. July 28, 2020 Carolyn with her daughter Kerri by her side, was set free.
Carolyn is loved and will be truly missed. Always in our hearts and on our shoulder. Survived by her loving husband Robert (Bob) Eger, daughter Kerri Lynn McFadden, son in-law Paddy McFadden, grandchildren Jeremy, and Austin, great grandchildren Kale and Mckenna.
