CHALMERS Mr. Ronald Joseph Chalmers of Lacombe, Alberta passed away peacefully in the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Saturday April 12, 2008 at the age of 77 years. Ron was born at Dodsland, Saskatchewan on October 31, 1930. The family then moved to the Lacombe District and Ron finally settled in the Meadowbrooke District where he started his family. While farming was his passion, Ron held other jobs outside the farm, running heavy equipment mainly grader for the County of Ponoka, then he moved to the oilfield in 1977 working for Harmon Oilfield Services. He then started his own business Diamond C Oilfield Services. Through all of his outside jobs his passion was always the farm. In 1973 he purchased the farm where he resided until his passing. Ron is survived by his three sons, Gregory (Barb), Craig (Kelly), and Darcy (Marlene) as well as by his grandchildren Luke, Crystal, Jessica, Carl, Carolyn, Nicholas, Brandon (Kim), Candice, Jenna, and Tyler and by one special great granddaughter Graycee. Ron also leaves to mourn his loss two sisters, Lorna and Maxine and a host of nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents William and Louise and by family members Mary, Bob, Jim, Ed, Eldon and daughter-in-law Vicky. Funeral services will be held from the Rimbey Community Centre on Thursday April 17, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
