CHRISTIE Mr. Lorentz Christie passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Nursing Home on January 9, 2008 at the age of 76 years. Lorentz, the eldest son of Hans and Emilie Christie, was born at Innisfail on March 19, 1931. Lorentz attended school at Innisfail, Mount Royal College in Calgary and Olds School of Agriculture. Lorentz married Elsa Steffensen of Olds in 1955 and together they began to raise their family while working on the family farm. In 1963, they moved to Red Deer and Lorentz returned to school, attending S.A.I.T. to become an auto mechanic. Lorentz then worked as a mechanic for many years at Parkland Oil Products and Sears, Canada. Lorentz and Elsa returned to the Innisfail farm in 1985. Lorentz will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Elsa of Innisfail; daughter Karen and husband Dale Horsley of Red Deer; son Kenneth Christie of Singapore and his 5 grandchildren Mark, David and Paula Horsley and Karl and Hans Christie. Lorentz will also be missed by his sister Emily of Washington; brothers-in law Eric and wife Norma Steffensen of Cochrane, John and his wife Lil Steffensen of Calgary and his nieces and nephew. Lorentz was predeceased by his brother Harold Christie of Calgary. A funeral services will be held Tuesday January 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church (4027-48 Ave. Innisfail Alberta). Interment will follow at the Innisfail Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society or to the charity of ones choice. As a memorial tribute to Lorentz Christie a tree will be planted in the Tree Memorial Park (Innisfail) by HEARTLAND FUNERAL SERVICES LTD.
