November 18, 1948 - August 31, 2021
With heavy hearts we say farewell to our dear brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Clif (Clifton Foster Armstrong - November 18, 1948 to August 31, 2021).
Clif was born November 18, 1948, in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. He spent his formative years on the family farm near Elnora, Alberta, just southeast of Red Deer, with his two brothers and a rowdy clan of nearby cousins. Here he developed his great love of animals. He was compassionate, stylish, adventurous and entrepreneurial. He often went outside his comfort zone to try new things and new experiences. He trained as a licensed pilot, traveled the world, and kept himself busy with a number of businesses such as running a gym, importing silk flowers and vehicles, and operating handy vans.
In1986, he moved to the Vancouver area. But as his parents' health began to fail, Clif returned to Alberta to help out. He was an attentive and caring son, and he lived with his mother, Helen, through her final decline and illness, which allowed her to stay at home on the farm right to the end.
Clif then moved to Tsawassen, BC, and later Point Roberts, WA, with his beloved pup, Laci Mae. He loved spending time with his dog on Lighthouse Beach, making friends with all the people and pets he met there.
He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia in April 2021. Clif fought his final battle with dignity and prayer, and with the loving support of his many friends. Clif remained ever a thoughtful, caring, and kind friend, cousin, and uncle. He will be remembered for his empathy, strength of character, and strong faith in God.
He is survived by his brother, Ken (Joyce) Armstrong of Elnora, Alberta, and Ken's seven children: Shona Armstrong of Oakland, California; Kenneth Craig ("KC") Armstrong of Toronto, Ontario; Kirsty Twidale of Elnora; Lesley Mantel of Red Deer; Donald Armstrong of Red Deer; Lynsey Armstrong of Elnora; Ross Armstrong of Elnora; and a growing number of great nieces and nephews.
