DOYLE Colin "Lou" Doyle of Red Deer passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, October 21, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Lou, was the youngest of four children, born to Irish immigrant farmers in Munson, Alberta in 1921. Lou served three years as Military Police in the Canadian Armed Forces, prior to marrying Anne in 1946. Lou spent his early years working in the oil patch. Lou and Anne settled in Red Deer where he worked for many years at Michener Centre (formerly DeerHome). During these years he followed his passion for music by playing numerous dances (Elks Club) and most weddings. In the 60's and 70's, Lou had a band called "The Melody Men". Lou and Anne were foster parents to over thirty children. When Lou wasn't working, his free time was spent camping, fishing, motorcycling, berry picking, and helping during canning season. Lou stated himself, that his happiest times and memories were when his children were little. Lou will lovingly be remembered by his special friend and companion Ida Smith, his son, Michael (Gina) R. Doyle of Whitehorse, Yukon, four daughters; Betty Grady of Whitehorse, Yukon, Rita (Ken) Collier of Sundre, Alberta, Luanne (Brent) Steele of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Sherri Doyle of Red Deer, six grandchildren; Toscha, Nikki, William, Kelsey, Caitlan, Sophia and one sister, Wilma Scown of Kelowna. Lou was predeceased by his wife Anne in 2003, his daughter, Penny in 1994, his son, Bill in 1978 and two brothers; Frank and John. A Prayer Service will be held at the Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 - 67 Street) on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Scared Heart Catholic Church (5508 - 48A Ave) on Wednesday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Don Stein Celebrant.
