Constance OSMOND

OSMOND, (HARTLEY) Constance Mary (Connie) May 16, 1914 - July 25, 2008 Passed away peacefully the morning of July 25, 2008 at the Rosefield Continuing Care Centre at Innisfail, AB, at the age of 94 years. Born in Virden MB, to Alfred and Beatrice Hartley, Connie was the eldest of four sisters. She was educated in Virden, and also studied piano from a very early age, becoming very proficient as a teacher, accompanist, and church music director. Connie married Edgar Charles Osmond in Virden on June 10, 1940. They lived briefly in Winnipeg, MB and Port Arthur, ONT., (now part of Thunder Bay), returning to Virden in 1944. Connie and Edgar again moved to Winnipeg in 1974. Retirement years took them to Lethbridge, AB and Red Deer, AB until their passing. Next to her family, Connie's love of music fostered a piano teaching career which spanned sixty years. She was organist and choir director of St. Mary's Church in Virden for over forty years, beginning at age fifteen. Connie was also very active in the Virden Music and Arts Festival Association. Her piano students, soloists and choirs continuously won high honors in the annual Music Festival for many years. Connie's musical talent, her kind and gentle nature and positive outlook won many friends. She and the family are especially grateful for the excellent care provided by the staffs of The Red Deer Home Care Association, The Pines Lodge, Red Deer Regional Hospital, and the Rosefield Care Centre during her latter years. Connie was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Beatrice Hartley, her devoted husband Edgar in 2000, a son in infancy, and sisters Evelyn and Beatrice. She is survived by sister Joyce (George) Tarasuk of Toronto, sister in law Edith Laslett of Claresholm, sons Glen (Patricia) of Winnipeg, and Bruce (Joy) of Red Deer, nieces Barbara (Ralph) Bush of Calgary, Valerie Tarasuk of Toronto, nephews Rick (Ann) Laslett of Claresholm, Jim (Carol) Burton of Calgary, granddaughters Shari (Mike) Bielert, Markus and Alexis of Winnipeg, Alissa (Andrew) Beach and Harrison of Winnipeg, Karen (Tim) Miller, Abby, Jillian and Isaac of Red Deer, and grandson Warren (Anna Marie) Osmond, Kier and Gavin of Redcliff. Cremation was handled by the Heartland Funeral Services Ltd. in Innisfail. A memorial service will be held at St. Leonard's Anglican Church in Red Deer, AB. at 2:00 p.m., August 15, 2008. Internment will occur at Virden, MB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to any of the above noted agencies or charity of one's choice.
