CRAWFORD, Dale David

1939 - 2017

Dale David Crawford passed away at home in Morningside AB on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the age of 77 years. He was born in Castor AB to Jimmy and Mayme (Mary Ferguson) Crawford and lived in Byemoor until he was six, when the family moved to farm north of Lacombe in the Fairview District. Dale lived life with an optimistic, can-do attitude and unstoppable work ethic. He dreamt big and was ready to try almost anything, which led to a variety of occupations and projects. Around Central Alberta, Dale is remembered for his heavy construction and gravel businesses, developing roads and infrastructure in growing communities. After moving to Vancouver Island in 1983, he explored commercial fishing, property maintenance, and a family farm with livestock, orchard and honey production. Dale returned to the Lacombe area in 2006, where he was most happy working on his properties and helping family and friends with whatever he could. Although Dale faced multiple health issues during his life, he met them with a positive outlook, sheer determination and steadfast support from family - beating the odds more than once. His sense of humour and strength of character will be missed by his loving wife Vivian; children Mary-Lea, Loren and Darren (Lana - Indya, Maya, Emma, Adrian) Crawford, Ian Borrowman, Arleigh (Dennis - Justin, Levi, Dakota, Amira) Reid and Andrew (Sally - Taylor) Zradicka; sister Yvonne (Bert) Ganson; brother Ross (Darlene) Crawford as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be held later this spring. If desired, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Dale's name to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute through the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation at universityhospitalfoundation.ab.ca/donate. Condolences to Dale's family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
